Latest travel advice for getting to Sandbanks

Emergency repair works on Shore Road see lengthy traffic queues for car drivers but don’t despair! We have some helpful tips to get you to the beach.

Regrettably, emergencies are sometimes unavoidable and repair work to burst water pipes could remain in place up until 29th July. There are temporary traffic lights in place that mean traffic queues, especially during busy periods are inevitable.

Because Sandbanks is a peninsula with one main arterial road, there’s really only one way on, one way off if you are visiting us by car. Unless of course you are staying in Sandbanks, we strongly advise visitors to either park in one of the many surrounding neighbouring roads and walk, park in Poole or Bournemouth and take one of the regular bus services to the area (the less cars on the road, the shorter the queues) or rent a bike / scooter.

We totally understand that this is sometimes easier said that done, especially for visitors with younger families, watersporters with equipment or people who need easier access to the beach. In these cases, please allow extra time for your journey or plan to arrive as early as possible and bear in mind you may need to be patient.
