Boasting one of the worlds largest natural harbours in the world, Sandbanks is proving to be a really popular venue for water sports enthusiasts. With safe and shallow waters, it’s also an ideal place for beginners of all ages too!
Whatever the weather and whichever is your chosen water sport – kitesurfing, windsurfing, paddle boarding, Sandbanks Beach and surrounding coastline offer ideal conditions to practice your sport.
Most windsurfers choose to use the Poole Bay side of Shore Road / Sandbanks Road, especially in summer months as there are usually no swimmers, just boarders and it offers a small beach to get setup and quick access to roadside parking so it’s a short run to get your kit.
The waters are usually pretty calm in Poole Bay however, there is direct inlet to open waters so conditions can get choppy enough for some proper jump and bump.
There are various different companies that offer rental equipment if you’ve left your gear at home including H20 Sports located in Ashley Cross and Poole Harbour Sports located in Lilliput just down the road from Sandbanks.
We’ll be posting loads more in the coming months about all of the activities and watersports available in the area so please stay tuned 🙂
