The park also features a large children’s play area with state of the art equipment, a saltwater lagoon and a beautiful lake, home to many ducks and swans.  Visitors are welcome to feed them with grain or bird feed, but please keep your bread for your own picnics – as contrary to popular belief this is unsuitable for the birds.

The lake offers rowing boats and pedalos for hire, whilst the Rockley Water Sports Centre offers sailing lessons in dinghies for youngsters. An area of the lake is reserved for model racing yachts, with regular races held by a local club you can watch from one of the many waterside public seats.  One important feature of the lake is that is very shallow, making it safe even for the younger children.

Indoors there is a soft play centre and ice skating rink where children can burn off their energy whilst parents relax with refreshments. It’s also the perfect place to retreat if the weather takes a turn for the rainy. If you are feeling creative, check out the pottery studio where you can paint your own masterpiece to take home!

At the eastern end of the park is a cricket pitch and pavilion used for matches by a local club.  There are seats all around the pitch from where you can enjoy watching a game.  And if the sound of willow on leather is not for you but you’re still looking for even more peace and quiet, then find your way to the Rose Garden – a quiet place to relax, read a book or just be at one with your thoughts.
