Upton Country House & Park

Upton House is a late Georgian grade II listed building built between 1816-1818 and set within the award winning Upton Country Park.  There’s a wide range of leisure opportunities and activities at Upton House and Country Park and it’s a great place to spend the day throughout the seasons.

The park is an ideal place to visit for a leisurely walk or cycle ride along the shoreline of Poole Harbour and through the woodland with its extensive views over the water.  Make sure you look out for the wildlife along the way and there is a large hide for  keen bird watchers.

If you have children they will love to explore, leap, climb and slide in the adventure play park.  Built in late 2019, there is a large natural timber play area suitable for all ages and abilities and in summer, bouncy fun play with inflatables.  The Splash Fountain in the summer bursts into life twice a day and children can have lots of fun splashing when the weather is hot.

The front lawn is the place in the park for ball games.  It’s also the ideal place for family sports and picnics with children able to run around safely.  The space plays host to large events such as fairs, shows and music festivals, whilst more modest regular activities and events take place throughout the summer.  For the more leisurely visitors,  there is the amazing horticulture and beautiful botanical walled garden with it’s well managed beds and borders to explore and admire.

A visit to the tearooms is a welcome break, with tables inside and out on the terrace where you can take in the lovely surroundings.  There are also outside kiosks around the house if you are in need of refreshments.  Or while you are here you can visit the Art Gallery upstairs from the tearooms.   Local professional and non-professional artists including art societies showing their work, most of which is for sale.
