Welcome to Compton Acres

Compton Acres is recognised as one of the most important ornamental gardens in England.

Constructed in 1920 by Mr Thomas Simpson, today, Compton Acres is still acknowledged as one of the finest privately owned gardens in England. Enjoy over 10 acres of horticultural heaven, relax in our charming Café & Tea Rooms, browse the treasures in our Gifted Moment store or delve into the exciting world of plants within our Plant Centre.

The Gardens

The gardens of Compton Acres are laid out on a circular route, rather like jewels on a necklace. This unique layout allows visitors to discover each of the gardens in turn. There is a step free route around the garden.

There are 5 areas to our gardens including The Italian Garden, The Wooded Valley, The Rock & Water Gardens, The Heather Gardens and The Japanese Gardens.

The Plant Centre

Situated in an idyllic courtyard setting, our plant centre offers the beauty of Compton Acres gardens for you to take home for yourselves.

We offer a wide range of perennials, shrubs and seasonal bedding plants to tempt you after being inspired by the gardens. We specialise in unusual and exotic plant species, including a number found within the grounds themselves. Some of our most popular plants include Acers, Rhododendrons and top quality David Austin Roses for you to browse and enjoy.

Café & Tea Rooms

The charmingly warm, bright and airy café takes its pride of place at the entrance of Compton Acres.

With plenty of cafe seating inside and outside in our beautiful courtyard, our friendly team welcome you to sample some of our home cooked dishes.

Gifted Moments Store

Our ‘Gifted Moments’ store is full of treats and delights for all ages and any occasion. From weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, baby showers and more we’re sure you’ll find the perfect gift in amongst our treasure trove of a store!

We have a popular range of children’s toys from some of the top brands, dazzling jewellery, gifts for guys including Harley Davidson branded accessories, stylish kitchenware and confectionary, alcohol, luxurious beauty products plus more! Our store also has a wide variety of gifts cards for all occasions.

Pricing

Compton Acres is open to the public 7 days a week. You do not need to pre-book for entrance to the gardens. Paid entry to the gardens is not necessary to visit our Café Tea Rooms, Plant Centre, Ticket & Gift Shop, and Gifted Moments Shop. Our visitors also enjoy free parking.
